There are people who do this for some money. The issue is that on the dual CPU 4,1 Apple used "delidded" Xeons that sit a little lower in the socket, so if regular "lidded" CPUs are used, the heatsinks have to be delicately connected, brought down and not tightened all the way.

No software or firmware upgrade has failed to date. They are indistinguishable from original 5,1 mac pros except for the About This Mac window that still says 2009 mac Pro. I don't have the link right here, but I have 2 (two) machines here that started out as 2009 4,1 mac pros and are now 12 core 5,1 mac pros with 3.47 or 3.33 Xeons and 133 memory. But this is an easy firmware upgrade that can (could?) be legitimately downloaded from Apple. The only thing is you need a Mojave compatible video card if you care to run Mojave.

WAIT, am I missing something here? The OP has a 2009 4,1 Classic Mac Pro? It's a very easy upgrade to 5,1 firmware, and then it IS a 2010 macPro and it runs everything current.
